Build & Leave your Mark. Hike & Solar Power

 In blog, ILEAD 2016

The Pioneers have had an amazing 2 days to start the week. They had an opportunity to build a project for soldiers to sit and eat during breaks. They had the opportunity to engage the soldiers and eat lunch with them. They just finished a beautiful hike that they started at 4:15am and ended off with a Sunrise Minyan.

Check out below blog post from Marcelle Setton with more details and some AMAZING views from the last couple days.

Monday
We woke up on Monday morning to our desert campsite. We prayed, had breakfast and headed to an officer training school where we met David Shapiro, Shilo and Moshikos brother in law. We learned a little bit about the officer training school and then started to working our second ILEAD project. We built an outside area for the soldiers to sit and eat in during breaks. We also got a chance to eat lunch with the soldiers and get to know them more. We ended off our time at the base with Mincha in the Synagogue shaped like the burning bush.
After our stay at the officer training school, we split up into two groups. Half of us participated in a team building activity and half of us went repelling in and then we swapped. We ended off the day with Shakshuka prepared by Shlomo, our bus driver.

Tuesday
After a bright an early wake up of 4:15, we all got ready for a hike in the desert. We arrived to an amazing view at sunrise and prayed Shacharit in התבודדות. The view was truly incredible. We continued our hike and stopped by a spring to cool off. We all felt accomplished after hiking all morning in the desert heat. After our hike, we learned about solar energy and took a bus tour of the area where solar panels are in the process of being built.
