Supermarket Sweep, Climb, Tanachs & Shabbat

 In blog, ILEAD 2018

Good Afternoon –

Hope hearing your children’s voices this morning brought a smile to your face.
In case they didn’t get a chance to tell you about their experiences, here is some tidbits of their last 36 hours in Israel.

Thursday they had the opportunity to do a supermarket sweep….except with one catch. They had to buy lunch with 50 Shekels for 10 people. This allowed the pioneers to not only be conscious of their spend but of what they bought and how much it would last/could be shared. Some great pics below on that adventure.

Early Friday am they had the opportunity to wake up at 4am and climb Har Tavor. The lesson of this specific hike is that the journey is more important than the destination. Through their climb, they help each other make it up the mountain as a group, and when everyone arrives they are greeted with a delicious breakfast.
Following they each receive their Tanachs and in ILEAD fashion they learned about Har Tavor, the mountain they just climbed on location.

They refreshed themselves by going for a swim in the Kineret and got some free time for lunch and phone calls. They are in Har Tavor for Shabbat in a beautiful location. The beauty of their Shabbat is that they will be praying and looking at the mountain they just climbed. A true realization of their accomplishment. The Pioneers will experience Shabbat and the true meaning of ‘rest’ , especially after their adventurous week.
