Project Hangout – Building (literally) a New Reality

Remember the money the Pioneers raised before they left on their experience?
Here’s a blog by Danielle Ashkenazie followed by awesome pictures of their ability to have a vision, build and create a new reality permanently for the residences of Yerucham:

This week we experienced the epitome of “started from the bottom now we here.”
We fixed a teen enrichment facility known as Mahsan 52 in a small city known as Yerucham.  On Sunday we arrived in Yerucham, and spoke with the mayor Michael Bitton about how we’re just like the youth in Yerucham and shouldn’t let the barrier of our language and our culture prevent us from forming bonds with these teenagers and from doing our job to our fullest. Then we went on our way to Mahsan to affect the lives of Yerucham youth.

The Mahsan provides teens with various activities including; ping-pong, army properness, studio (dance & music), etc. The purpose of the Mahsan is to develop the youth of the city of Yerucham and keep them off the streets. It was a growing experience as everyone came together to help build and create something so amazing with such efficiency. We broke up into groups to tackle the multiple tasks at hand, each group had a specific duty to improve the Mahsan.

Groups were assigned tasks such as repainting the building, building a roof, and replacing the walls. Each group went about their task with such great teamwork – it was a magisterial  sight to se how far we’ve come. We had a lot of fun building but the importance of our mission was not lost on us, our workings will resonate with the youth of Yerucham forever. The staff of the Mahsan and community of Yerucham were emphatic about our work and with all the gratitude in the world thanked us. This past week, we , the iLead Pioneers took a small part in the developing of our land and our nation.
