Ilead 2.0- Tiyul to the Shfela

Yesterday we discovered that there is a whole word of edible plants that we never knew about! As we walked along the gorgeous flowers of the shfela, Reuel pointed out that we could eat many of them. He suggested we collect them and then towards the end of the day we used them in our soup. We also went to a lookout over Emek Ha’ela where David fought with Golyat. There we read the relevant pesukim from the tanach with Adele, and after learning about David’s strong sense of identity, we discussed how our Jewish identities were strengthened throughout our year learning here. We visted many caves. Some we crawled through, in others we had moments of silence and others were burial caves. The pita bread, soup and salad which we cooked on the fire that we made ourselves was the perfect end to an adventurous day!
