History. Raise your Flag!

History. Today the Pioneers connected to history, and became part of history. They had the unique opportunity to climb Tel Saki – A mountain that was a key battle site during the Yom Kippur war. They learned about the battle and the impact on our land and people.
Then they made history. There is a beautiful, large Israeli flag that waves on the battle site to commemorate our effort and victory. Due to the windy location of the area, the flag often gets worn out and rips. The Pioneers helped raise a new up a flag on that site and added their contribution to continuing the celebration of our people and land. (The pics and vids on these are a must see) The Pioneers learned about the war, the Syrian border, fighting refugees, and Israel’s kindness to them. The moment not only had an impact on the Pioneers but on the tour guide and the women responsible for the flag and location… Here is what they posted on Facebook (original FB post below):

People ask me why I go to Tel Saki every week and see how the flag is? So here’s one of the answers. Today when I came to tel, I met a group of Jewish boys & girls from the Syrian community in New York. They came to see and hear about the location. Here’s another chance to swing and raise the flag, and I excited every time this happens. This time with Jews from the Syrian community. Another circle was created as just beyond the Tel-Saki community, the Golan Heights community delivers gift packages to the Syrian children…. and I’m here with Jewish children whose parents escaped from Syria! And I’m here singing with them “Hope For the state of Israel”
