Danielle & Frieda – #showerexperience

In blog, ILEAD 2015, Pioneer Blog Post

Tuesday afternoon we got off the plane and headed and strait to our “home.” We arrived at the campsite and built our own tents, collected firewood, and cleaned the bathrooms (don’t be fooled, just toilets, no showers). We settled in for a night of sleep, but little did we know, it was a long night of no sleep.

First thing in the morning, we learned map skills that we used in our activities throughout the day. Later that night we got lost on an hour hike, despite our “incredible” navigation skills. After a long sweaty day, we headed back to our tents to sleep; once again with no shower… Throughout the night, we took shifts in protecting our fellow pioneers and home. Feeling a little more rested, we woke up to an insightful class with Shiloh. Preparing us for a cheap lunch, we cooked the most amazing shakshukah for breakfast. For lunch, we were split into groups of 11 with 50 shekels to spend in a supermarket. Our unsatisfying lunch taught us that we really don’t know how to appropriate money.

Depressed and smelly, we were taken out of our funk by the news that we were spending the night in the “King David Hotel”! Jokes, it was another campsite but with a shower… #thekingdavid. We went to bed clean, cozy and refreshed for about 3 hours. We woke up at 3:53 A.M. To hike up the beautiful mountain, Har Tavor. After sunrise, at the peak, we prayed, ate breakfast, and received our very own Tanachim. Putting the to use, we connected our history to the place we were standing. After an exerting day, we finally arrived at “The Waldorf”. This campsite has four walls, a roof, beds, and even individual showers! Now we are all preparing for Shabbat, all contributing to make a more meaningful and spiritual experience. Can’t wait to shower!

See you next week!

P.S. Can you virtually smell us? (I hope not)
