A Word from Adele, iLead Counselor

 In blog, Pioneer 2014 Posts

Dear Parents,
I am in love with your children. The questions they ask, the comments they contribute, the topics they want to discuss, blow me away again and again.

Hiking up a beautiful mountain a few pioneers are discussing how and when it is the ideal time to “start life.” As these pioneers continue their way up, I take a minute to enjoy the view before my eyes of the looming mountain of Har Tavor, and its impressive greenery. I picture the troops of Barak ben Avinoam that were once mobilized there, and which we will soon read about in our Tanachs.

I now pick up on the ends of another conversation. These pioneers are discussing buying fruits and vegetables in Israel and what the laws of Shenat shemitta might entail.

Later that night I have a discussion with pioneers. Do you believe in an afterlife? What is the quality you most admire about yourself and why? The higher and deeper level thinking that Ilead’s activities and environment stimulate is unparalleled. I can’t help but beam with pride as I think about the meaningful way in which these young teens are spending their summer.

An opportunity that only the land of Israel could create for them. The pioneers are learning to work as a team and consider the effect of their decisions on others. They are being given navigational challenges, and are learning how to cook ands clean with limited resources. The pioneers are in love with this trip and I am in love with them.
