ILEAD Day 4: Friday & Shabbat Shalom

Friday July 7th:  What a day! By Esther Kishk

Wow! What an exciting day we had today! It all started with a 4:00 AM wakeup followed by a hike up Har Tavor. The theme of the day was “The journey is more important than the destination” and we really saw it go into play as we climbed up the steep and rocky mountain. Often, we were found questioning our abilities and at times we felt we wouldn’t make it all the way up. However, with the help of each other, we were all able to make it up the mountain. It wasn’t until we reached the top where we realized a few girls were lost behind with the counselor Nathaniel. Josh spoke to us about the importance of finishing as a group and once they arrived up, we all greeted them with cheers and hugs. After that we had a shiur with Shilo as we differentiated the difference between a challenge and a problem and focused on the importance of perspective. The shiur was followed by a super spiritual tefliah on the top of the mountain and a delicious breakfast. Then we had a tanach shiur and learned about Har Tavor. Soon later, we finally got to go swimming!!! We made our way to the Kineret as we all refreshed and shared a couple laughs in the water as well. At 1:00 we made our way onto the bus and had an hour of free time to buy lunch as there was a long street filled with many restaurants. Finally we made our way back to the hostels and got some time with our phones as we prepared for our pre shabbat ruach.
