ILEAD 2.0 – Hike

 In iLead Fellowship Israel

We decided to take a break from our busy schedules, and head down South for a hike through Nahal Hatira. When we got there, everyone's immediate reaction was, "We're here? But we're in the middle of nowhere!" Reuel and Adele who accompanied us, had big smiles on their faces when we said that and responded, "It wouldn't be ILEAD if we were anywhere but the middle of nowhere." There was nothing around us but the desert mountains. No other living people, no streets, no stores.

We started out the morning with a delicious breakfast, played a game to test our coordination skills, and then learned about the sack of lebne that we would be carrying around all hike until it was ready to be eaten. See pics for details.

The hike had tons of hidden surprises! We swam in Ice-cold, natural pools that were there only temporarily because of the winter rains. There were ibexes scaling the cliffs, and land formations more beautiful than anything we could have ever imagined! We picked spices and tasted plants along the way and learned about the heroic story of the Palmach who were once in the region. More importantly we had a blast and learned a lot about ourselves. It was the perfect combination of fun, relaxation and hard work! Can't wait for the next trip!
